My daughter just turned 5 and instead of doing the usual bowling alley, indoor/outdoor party, makeover or sleep over we decided to throw her a fitness party!
Every now and then if I can’t find a sitter my daughter joins me at my weightlifting sessions and she’s always on the sidelines mimicking everyone and doing her own sets of lunges, push ups and squats. She absolutely loves everything about coming to the gym with mommy, so I knew she would absolutely LOVE this idea over the others and she did, without hesitation. I asked my coach if they would help me host a fitness party for my daughter and without a flinch she said, “Yes!”
The party was pretty easy to put together, Coach Dani set up an obstacle course with ring flips, box jumps, bear crawls and burpees and each kid had to do sets of 10 at each station. After the obstacle course my sister put on a little dance party followed by a fun game of musical chairs & the limbo. I provided healthy snacks such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on wheat, fruit trays and veggies trays and I made “mud” sugar free pudding. We ended the party with the usual cake and presents and every kid left there saying it was the best party they have ever been to!
I’ve been on my fitness journey for a year now and I love how it’s not only changing my life, but my families life too. Nadia is more active just because she sees me more active and I’ve already signed her up for her first race in March. My husband has started running again and once a week Nadia and him play basketball together and we all eat better as a whole.
If you want to host a fitness party for your child I would contact different fitness centers in your area and ask if they would be willing to help you put together a fitness party. I’m sure there are plenty of places that would be more than happy to help!
I have to give a big thank you to my gym “Cain Athletics” in North Platte, Nebraska for hosting this awesome party and a special shout out to our Coach Dani for rocking it out with the kiddos and my sister for dancing it up with them as well!
